Description

Scanning electron micrograph showing the structure of the surface of a mosquito egg. Many mosquitoes lay eggs in wet environments either on top of the water or along the edge, such as rivers, swamps and lakes. Mosquitoes (Culicidae) are insect vectors that transmit diseases including malaria, dengue fever and yellow fever. Horizontal image width is 65 microns.
