This is a magazine insert issued by Lever Brothers Ltd., possibly about 1890, to advertise (pure) Sunlight Soap. The soap was used to do laundry and by being 'purer' was supposed to do the work more thoroughly and faster, needing "no rubbing! No scrubbing!". The front of the insert is an attractive chromolitho illustration of a young girl in a bright red coat and hat with black fur trimmings standing in a country landscape while it is snowing heavily. She is carrying a black umbrella and a wickerwork basket with a box of the soap in it. A playful white puppy with a black patch over its left eye is pulling at its leash which is wrapped round the girl's waist. Looks a bit like a Christmas card.
