Matilda, Sophia (d. 1844), daughter of the Duke of Gloucester and niece of George III

Autograph letter, signed "S.M.", 3 pp. n.d., to "My dearest Lady Euston". The writer is probably Sophia Matilda, daughter of George III's brother William Henry, the Duke of Gloucester, and the recipient probably Mary Caroline, Lady Euston (d. 1873). Reference to the latter's young son William Henry Fitzroy, later 6th Duke of Grafton (1819 - 1882), places the letter near 1819. The letter concerns the virtues of Iceland moss as nourishment and medicine.
