About this work

Description

Leaflet explaining the work of the North Carolina Tuberculosis Association at its sanatorium. There are 2 photographs of children who have been treated (all are white in one, all are black in the other), a photograph of a doctor listening to a young girl's chest with a stethoscope and another of a nurse taking a bed-ridden girl's pulse. The Christmas seals mentioned are (non postage) stamps which were sold every Christmas to raise money for charity and would have been stuck onto Christmas card envelopes, making them look brighter and also spreading awareness of the disease and what was being done to combat it.
