Description
Observed in 1793 at the temple of Mariatale at Negapatnam in Tamil Nadu. In the right foreground a man with floor-length hair (described by Gold as a Pandarom)approaches bearing a plate of limes. Two people stand looking up at the dangling figure above, one of them pointing to the activity. Another group of people stand on the left, one of whom prays on the floor with outstretched hands. The musicians play drums and horns. Further people stand on top of the upper ledges of buildings on the right and left of the image. A temple-like building looms up in the distance
