About this work

Description

"I used to think left-wing spaces were free of bigotry and hate. Until I joined some of them. There I found racism in fat-positive spaces, queerphobia in trade union meetings, two-faced lies and hate in vegan communities, and much, much more. Sometimes this bigotry takes the form of physical and sexual violence, because being a member of these groups often provides a shield that protects abusive people. Within this zine are just a few examples of things I’ve had said to my face, or overheard others saying. It can be hard to acknowledge how one oppression or vulnerability doesn't mean an understanding or empathy of all the others, but at least I know where I stand with these groups: outside the door, unwelcome and unable to get in."--From back cover.

"Trigger warning: contains numerous examples of hate-speech & actions"--From cover.
