Lectures on "Neuroses"

A volume of professorial lectures headed "Neuroses. Begun April 10th. 1780-Comata." There is no indication of the writer's identity, but he was evidently a pupil of William Cullen. Recto only inscribed, a few additions on verso. The contents are as follows:- Eight lectures on the causes, nature and treatment of certain diseases, as follows: Lecture 1, Apoplexy (fo. 1-12); Lecture 2, Palsy (fo. 12-21); Lecture 3, General treatment in such cases (no heading), beginning: "As I always wish that your knowledge of the Cure of Diseases should be Scientific rather than Empyrical" etc. (fo. 21-31); Lecture 4, on the same (no heading), mentioning exercise, "electricity in Shocks and Sparks," warm baths, etc. (fo. 31-39); Lecture 5, Syncope (fo. 39-45); Lecture 6, Dyspepsia (fo. 45-54); Lecture 7, Gastrodynia (fo. 54-64); Lecture 8, further remarks on Dyspepsia and its cure, unfinished (fo. 64-71). Folios 72-110 are blank.
