Description
A blastocyst is a hollow ball of cells containing
the inner cell mass. This cluster of cells gives
rise to the foetus itself and contributes to the
extraembryonic membranes whilst the trophectoderm
gives rise to the placenta. The blastocyst breaks
out of the zona pellucida prior to implanting in
the uterine wall.
