About this work

Description

Close up of leaf spray. Long serated divided palmate. Large erect plants up to two metres high with rough elongated lobed leaves. Male and female flowers occur on separate plants. The flowering tops are called many slang terms including pot, marijuana, hashish, bhang, and ganja. The stem is an important source of hemp fiber. It is illegal to grow this plant in Britain under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Poisoning usually occurs in excess usage. Poisonous substances are within the resinous material, namely tetrahydrocannabinols. Birds are particularly fond of the seeds. Shows large single multi-stemmed plant.
