Collection of six medical works, the first three and the last in Latin, the other in German: with a few reciepts in Latin. Followed by six short plague tracts in Latin.

Written by four different semi-gothic current German hands. Capitals, headings and paragraph marks in red.

1 volume 133 ff.(last bl.). 4to. 22 1/2 x 15 1/2 cm. Modern half vellum binding.

Purchased 1922.

Ownership note

On the first leaf is an inscription 'In hoc volumine Continentur Galienus de Spermate. Signa Richardi Ars Operatoria Raimundi Theutonica Regimen preseruatiuum Contra pestem. Iste liber est Monasterii Sanctorum Martyrum Alexandri et Theodori in Pttenburra Ordinis Sancti Benedicti augustane dyocesis Et datus est per doctorem Johannem hertlin presbiterum in Augusta Anno domini 1505. pro remedio anime sue. Quocumque tollatur Ottenburra meum satic'. This seems to be by the same hand as that of the receipt of the same date on the verso of the penultimate leaf of MS. No. 780. Below this inscription: 'George Stephens. Brought in Leipzig, June 1854'. This is by the English runic archaeologist [1813-1895] [see the Dictionary of National Biography].
