The entry on Membrane 2 contains particulars under the date 9th June 1278 of fees paid to Master Simon the Surgeon. The entry concerning Simon the Surgeon occurs on Membrane 2, line 36:

Apud Westmonasterium die Jovis ix die Junii, Magistro Simoni Cirurgico pro suis expensis per Cviii dies per quos stetit precepto Regis apud Londonium circa infirmos de dono Regis Cviii solidi. Eidem pro suis expensis eundo apud Marlebergiam ad visitandum Amadeum de Sabaudia infirmum v. solidi ii denarii. Philippo filio predicti Simonis pro suis expensis eundo ad montem de Hanens pro Amadeo de Sabaudia de dono Regis xi solidi. Eidem pro vadiis suis per xxix dies per quos fuit extra Curiam de dono Regis xxix solidi.
