Biographical note
The author was a physician, pharmacist, and politician. He qualified as pharmacist in 1875 at Paris and as physician in 1876. He became professor of organic chemistry at Lyons in 1893. Later in the political field he was elected Deputy for Lyons in 1902, and a Senator in 1911.
