The artist named as J. Williamson was presumably the John Williamson recorded as a portrait- and figure-painter in J. Johnson and A. Greutzner, The dictionary of British artists 1880-1940, Woodbridge, Suffolk, 1976. Between 1885 and 1895 he exhibited four works at the Royal Academy, one at the Royal Society of British Artists, and eleven at the Royal Scottish Academy. From 1885 he gave an Edinburgh address, and from 1891-92 an address at 5 West Hampstead Studios, Sherrif Rd., London NW
