About this work

Description

This ink and watercolour illustration depicts the brain of someone suffering from depression. The blue wash describes the lack of mental clarity and motivation experienced by people with this condition. In our culture the colour blue is traditionally associated with melancholy. Depression is a physiological illness, often generational which can be treated with medication and psychotherapy.
