About this work

Description

Sets out the background and organisation of the Wellcome Trust-funded survey of British sexual attitudes and behaviour and reports on some of its findings. Compares it with the Kinsey Report, explains Kinsey's work and methods and the difficulties which arose from attempting such a survey in the moral climate of President McCarthy's America. Also includes a section on the work of Virginia Johnson and William Masters. The organisers of the Wellcome Trust Survey - Dr. Kay Welling (St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington), Dr. Julia Field (Research Director, Social and Community Planning Research), Dr. Jane Wadsworth (St. Mary's Hospital Medical School) and Dr. Anne Johnson (Middlesex Hospital Medical School) - talk about their respective areas of responsibility. The Kinsey and Masters and Johnson sections are well illustrated with archive film and the programme is of great social and historical interest
