What you’ll do
Participate in an intimate, one-to-one, tactile performance with visually impaired artist Jo Bannon.
You’ll enter the performance area and sit at a booth. Guided by Jo’s voice, you’ll share a touch encounter with unknown objects behind a pink velvet curtain. You’ll then move around to the other side of the curtain to continue the performance.
‘Sleight of Hand – One to One’ explores what we can discover if we loosen our grip on the visual and let our other senses wander. It integrates audio description, choreography and an immersive ASMR soundscape.
You’ll be touching unseen items and objects but there will be no person-to-person contact.
Each performance takes up to 45 minutes, with no interval. There will be 18 performances in total throughout the day.
This performance is suitable for people age 14 and over.
You can book a time slot by clicking on the ‘Check for tickets’ button below.
The continuous flow of participants is essential to each performance. If you can’t make it, please cancel your ticket on Eventbrite or notify us as soon as possible so someone else can take your place.
Performances will start promptly at the allocated time, so please arrive 10 minutes before your time slot. If you’re late, you are likely to lose your place.
This is a bespoke solo version of the larger group participatory installation by Jo Bannon with the same name.
While you’re at Wellcome Collection, why not drop into see Jo Bannon’s new film ‘PASSING’, which will be running continually throughout the day.
