About this work
Description
This video shows the principles and techniques necessary for aseptic microbiological work. There are demonstrations in a university laboratory setting and three industrial settings, the Courage Berkshire Brewery, Roche Products Limited and the Public Health Laboratories. In each of these settings scientists work in different ways reflecting the type of experiments, equipment and degree of containment necessary, although the principles are the same. Shows: growth of the streptomyces filamentous organism to produce an antibiotic; necessity and methods of containment of infectious micro- organisms using air pressure and autoclaves.
