Book a study room

We have one group study room and one assistive study room available in the library. Study rooms can only be booked by members of the library. 

Group study room

The group study room is there if you want to work collaboratively with a small group of three to eight people. Although non-members signed in as day visitors can attend sessions in the group study room, they must be accompanied by the member of the library who booked the session.    

Room facilities:  

  • a large desk for up to eight people  
  • a network computer and audio-visual equipment for screen projection and video  
  • wifi.  

You can also bring collection items from the library shelves into the room with you.  

Assistive study room

We have a single-person study room available for library members who require accessibility equipment, including screen-reading software, Dictaphones and other read-aloud assistive equipment. You might also like to check our other accessibility services and facilities.   

Room facilities:  

  • a network computer with accessibility software  
  • a height-adjustable table  
  • wifi   
  • space for an accompanying colleague/friend.  

You can also bring collection items from the library shelves into the room with you.  

How to book a study room

Contact the library to book a study room or ask at the Library Enquiry Desk for more information. And please let us know if you need to cancel a booking.

Library members can book the study rooms in two-hour slots up to a maximum of four hours per week. Please note that all study rooms close five minutes before the library closes.

Guidance on the use of study rooms  

  • While on library premises all visitors must comply with our conditions of use and computer use policy.  
  • Please be aware that library staff and security may access the room at any time.  
  • Please leave the room in the condition it was found at the end of your session.  
  • The group study room may be unavailable at extremely busy periods, at the discretion of library staff, to provide extra seating in the library.
