What you’ll do

Drop in and join artist and researcher Jessie McLaughlin for creative activities exploring consent in relation to the structures and institutions that surround us, and the language we use.

If you come along between 12.00 and 13.00, you will be joined by artist Davinia-Ann Robinson. The focus of the discussion will be about structures of power related to the definition of the term erotic, specifically in relation to women of colour.

About your facilitators

Jessie McLaughlin

Jessie McLaughlin is an amateur artist, curator and wannabe footballer and boxer. They work from a soft, queer, brown (and sometimes sad) perspective, examining structures of privilege, oppression and exclusion, and searching for joy and community.

Davinia-Ann Robinson

Artist Davinia-Ann Robinson’s practice explores the cultural politics of emotions and the ways emotions affect female bodies of colour, navigating through patriarchal and colonial spaces in Western culture. Robinson examines the related notions of how black women are viewed as the ‘Other’ and ‘un-woman’, and how they are displaced into the periphery of Western society.
